Being part of The Journal For Youth Voice is an incredible opportunity for high school and college students. As a global community of writers, editors, artists, leaders, and critical thinkers, JYV will expose you to a variety of perspectives and opportunities. Whether you've won national awards or never written a piece outside your English class, the Journal offers a collaborative, supportive platform that will get your voice heard while building skills (and a portfolio!) you can take anywhere.

Members of the JYV have gone on to study at Oxford, win national Speech & Debate competitions, and even help draft Minnesota state legislature!

Open Positions

Writer

As a JYV writer, you'll be expected to produce an article once a month following our Cycle System. Your articles will go through two rounds of edits, be promoted on social media, and be published every issue! If you'd like to write more frequently than that or show consistent high-quality work, you may be invited to JYV's Open Press initiative, a new program for recognizing the best of JYV's writing, or to the Editorial Board, which focuses on biweekly analyses of current events. We're excited to see what you'll write! No experience or prior work is required.

Editor

Our team of editors helps polish, peer-review, select, and curate our publication! As an editor, you'll edit twice a month under the Cycle System for every issue. If inspiration hits, you'll still be able to publish articles! A strong command of English is recommended.
